Back up to 88 cells in the Mercedes!I was able to charge the individual cells with a lab power supply, and the performance is dramatically improved! I’ll record a driving video soon so that you can see.
Custom instrumentation for the Mercedes - the easy way!I'm using the CAN translator from Thunderstruck Motors to drive a dashboard in my Mercedes. This will work with the VCU out of the box, but the CAN translator can be reprogrammed over serial to add more custom stuff for other systems.
If you found this interesting, then check out some of the other videos along the way, and don't forget to subscribe. Thanks!
The EV Mercedes is running! Here's a brief road test as evidence...I finally got the Mercedes running again. I broke it before I could take some video last time, so here's a video now as proof!
As always, please subscribe if you enjoy this kind of stuff.

The VCU is here! Let's take a peak...FedEx just dropped off the VCU, and it's pretty nice! It's a nice, completely package. You'll want to use the harness that goes from the inverter to the motor to get all of the connectors. I'll record a video of setting this guy up as soon as I get a chance to put it together. If you have any questions, feel free to comment!

I need your input! Do you have EV conversion questions?Hey everyone! I’m preparing to create a series on how you can convert your own car to electric. I need to know what questions you all may have about the process so that I can be sure to include some good answers along the way.
If you have any questions, please post in the comments below. As I create material, it will end up on my site as well: www.jeffsprojects.com

Redesigned for the Mercedes: Nissan Leaf Motor EM57 Adapter PlateI'm finally coming back around to fixing up the Mercedes, and part of that is fixing mistakes I made earlier in the build. The old adapter plate was functional, but it was far from ideal. This one will work much better.
This adapter plate only fits the EM57 motor, not the earlier EM61. Keep that in mind. It is designed to pair to a Canada EV adapter plate, which you can find here: https://canev.com/motor-adapters/
You can get the adapter from EVWest as well, but it's around $200 more expensive. I don't know what benefit you're paying for there, but it seems a bit steep to me. EVWest are good folks, though. I wouldn't hesitate to get other stuff from them.
One note: my recording software (Bandicam) did not pick up my cursor. I'm sorry for any confusion that may cause! That being said, I'll use some different software next time.
UPDATE: The model has been uploaded to my site. You can find it here along with some more information about the adapter: http://jeffeblack.com/nissan-leaf-em57-motor-adapter-plate/

Big Block swap for the Ranchero! The Ranchero is just about up to daily status after replacing the engine and transmission, and adding the overdrive unit and a whole bunch of goodies. I'm going over exactly what I put into it!
Ranchero - Half car, half truck, all awesome!I wanted something that I could both enjoy and use to haul parts back and forth. Enter the Ranchero! It has some issues, so I'm putting a new (to it) engine in, among other things.
New interior goodies for the MeteorI found some cheap custom door panels and carpet on Ebay. It was a quick, mostly drama free install, and they really improved both the appearance and the, er... smell.
Is the Meteor a Rust Bucket? While I'm getting my tools and such in order, I decided to take a minute to check under the carpet in the Meteor. It was a nice surprise!
